Recycle:)

I love prims and antiques and love it even better when I can find a way to add cross stitch to the pieces I find.  While antiquing awhile back I found this wonderful glass washboard.  I looked through my designs and thought I'd use the bottom motifs from my
"Love for Labors All" design.  Changed up the colors and added a date....
Mounted and laced it onto some cardboard with batting and popped it in the top of the washboard.  Trimmed it with my stained vintage chenille around the edge.
This was fun and my first time doing this finish.  I'll be on the lookout for more washboards when I'm out junking with my buddies:)

Hope you have had a creative day my friends!

What a Nice Surprise

I'm sure a lot of you are seeing pictures of the Dyeing to Stitch Retreat that lots of lucky stitchers got to attend down in Virginia Beach.  I was unable to make it,  but wanted to personally stitch something special for Ann and Pat to have as a giveaway door prize during the banquet.  I had no idea who had won my creation until my blogging buddy Faye,
of the Carolina Stitcher blog sent me the sweetest email and picture, letting me know how thrilled she was with her win.  Imagine my surprise and delight that someone I knew had won.
I used my pattern "Love for Labors All" to create a long drawstring bag.  Above is the picture Faye sent me.  She has it tucked in her pie safe all snug and illuminated by candlelight.  How pretty it looks and how happy I am that it found such a nice home :)  Thank you Faye for your kind words and for bringing such a smile to my face with your email.

I also designed a pattern especially for the Retreat called "Celebration Sampler"
I've had a number of emails asking me how the pattern can be purchased.
Since this was for the Retreat, Dyeing to Stitch will be selling the charts in their shop, so give them a call.  I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help out.

Feels like a day off for me with the post office being closed for the holiday.
Thank you to everyone who purchased my new design "Wintertime" and for your wonderful emails and comments.  I've been busy packing up orders and I'll be shipping the second round out tomorrow.
Until next time, happy stitching!

Best Laid Plans

Hello my friends....
I'm sorry this post is so late, it's
been that kind of day.
I know I promised yesterday
to show you the 2 new patterns
I've been working on.  And I guess
late is better than never ; )
So without further adieu.....
"Lancaster Co. Coverlet"
I created this adaptation from a piece of
an original coverlet from Lancaster Co.
dated 1861.
It's stitched on R & R 35ct French Vanilla
using WDW and GA floss.
I thought it would be different to
mount it onto some stained matka.
I love how it turned out and
decided to find a place for it on our
fireplace mantel.

Here is the mini sampler you've
previewed me stitching.
"Love for Labors All"
Really one of my favorites.
I think this turned out quite sweet.
It's stitched on R & R 32ct Apple
Brown Bindy using GA an
Crescent Colours floss.

This sampler has some specialty
 stitches in the line borders.
Chain, Algerian eye, back stitch and
cross stitch over four.

Thank you so much for your
wonderful comments and emails.
Hope it was worth the wait!
