A Lovely Day

I took a well needed day off from work today and it was just
a beautiful day.  I did things that needed to be done, but also
things that I just like doing.

I stained some linen and dyed some chenille yarn to use on
future projects.  I did a variety of colors on the chenille.
Some tans, faded oranges and bittersweet.  Prefect for
Fall and Halloween items.  Then I put them on my
old fashion drying rack and sat it out in the gorgeous
sunshine to dry.
I also cleaned the sun porch and did some rearranging.
I have this beautiful old green grain bin that I moved to
a spot on the sun porch and added a few touches to
the top.  An old grain sack towel with the best
small green stripes down each side.  A few of my
old jars.  Quite an obsession of mine and an
antique garden dibble.
Of course I did some stitching.  The day just wouldn't
be complete.  I finished this Stacy Nash Alphabet
Sampler, but changed up the colors a bit, no surprise
there, right?  And added a date to the bottom.
I'm pleased with it and hope to attach it to a
wooden hornbook.
I do love making hornbooks.
Well, wishing all of you a wonderful day, doing
things that you love to do and that make you smile.

  1. I love your grain bin! Beautiful..I love to dye linen also. It always seems to take up the color just perfectly. Glad you had a good day. I took the day off too and was able to get some stitching in also. Oh...if we could only retire or hit the jackpot!!

  8. Nan, love the colors you chose for Stacy's alpha sampler. Any possibility you would share. Your colors look more alive to me and I think it is going to be a BD present for a friend who would love your colors too. Thanks for your time, Jo Ann

  9. Jo Ann, I couldn't find your email so I thought I'd post the floss colors here. For the most part I went with the colors suggested but changed up two. I replaced 830 with DMC 370 and replaced 926 with 924.

As always, thanks for your comments. I love reading them and visiting other blogs.
