Prim Stitchers Society

There's a new prim stitching group on facebook.  Just for those of us who love to stitch Primitive cross stitch designs.  It's called Prim Stitchers Society in case you're interested in joining.  It was started by Terri of Dixie Samplar and I was very excited to join the group as soon as she told me about it.  It's a great bunch of really fun and friendly stitchers and we all seem to be just loving this group.

I created a freebie chart just for the prim stitchers society members!  But, you can only get it if you become a member.

I ended up making this into a fabic covered box, which is now up as a giveaway to one of the members of the group.  The winner of the drawing will be announced this Sunday.

To be added as a member to the Prim Stitchers Society, please go to the group page and click the "join group" button. Ignore the "closed" status...that just means that nonmembers are unable to see our posts. Once Terri receives the notification, she will add you and you should see the group on your FB page.  I recommend that all members read the membership guidelines under the "files" section at the top of the page.

Needle in hand

It's always a special day for me when I put the first stitches in a new design.   I love to see it come to life with linen and thread.  I'll be away for a few days and this will be keep me company:)

Cinnamon Hearts Kit

I'm very excited to show you what I've designed for this limited kit.  It's been months in the making and it's always fun for me to see an idea come to life and turn out the way I pictured it:)

~*~ CINNAMON HEARTS ~*~

I like to hang some of my handmade pieces on cupboard knobs or chairs.  I finished this into a hanging heart and tried to incorporate as many heart motifs in it, as would fit.  I thought the addition of a stained twine tassel would prim it up a bit more:)  I'm very fond of the saying, "keep a gentle heart", and wanted to include that in the design as well..

I've stitched this on one of my favorite color linens......32ct Olde Towne Blend from R & R Reproductions using The Gentle Art floss and backed it with a beautiful cinnamon fabric by Renee Nanneman.  You probably know....I love to include a little surprise here and there.  On the back I've added a wool heart with a mother of pearl heart button......Yes, the theme is "Hearts".....:)  It's hung from copper colored seam binding.

Basically this kit comes with everything you need except the stuffing of your choice.  I didn't want anyone to have to run out for interfacing or freezer paper.  Also, I've stained the twine so it's ready to use and you won't have to get messy:)

  2 skeins of The Gentle Art floss

Ram in the Thicket over dyed wool

Cinnamon backing fabric

Mother of pearl heart button

Copper seam binding

Stained cotton twine

Fusible interfacing

Had this kit idea

Once again.....I had an idea brewing around in my head and started to stitch it out.

I've been actually working on this for about 9 weeks.

This is how it began.....

Once I got more of the design done I realized that this might just make a nice kit.  I consulted a few trusted friends for their opinion and got thumbs up all around :)  Love you gals!

So, I got to work charting and writing instructions and gathered up all the supplies needed.  I set to work cutting wool and fabric, staining twine, bagging buttons and seam binding.  Lots of busy work, but in my opinion busy fun!

It's just about ready.....and I can't wait to show you!

I'll be back in a few days to show you the finished piece and give you all the details on how to purchase it and what is included..... Pretty much everything you need.  That always makes things easier...doesn't it?

A Fun Weekend

This past weekend my husband and I, along with our good friends, Mimi and Bruce, took a ride down to Elkton, MD for the From the Farmhouse Antique and Handmades Show.  It was a beautiful sunny day and I've been so excited about this trip for months.  I knew I'd be seeing some new and old friends.  We weren't at the show long when Mimi and I ran into my new friend Theresa Meloon of Dulaney Woods Treasures and her buddy, Holly.

It was wonderful to meet them and chat for awhile.  Theresa and I seem to have lots in common and I do hope to meet up with her again soon.  

There were tons of great primitives and antiques to check out.  Everywhere you turned there was something to ohhhh and ahhhh at.

I was so looking forward to FINALLY meeting, in person, my long time friend Susan Hoover and her partner in primitives, Dorrie Koch, of Olde Threads.

What a fabulous booth they had and I love everything they do.  I know they have many fans and I am one of them.  To my surprise, many of the gals from Primitive Handmades Merchantile were there.  I patiently await their online update each month, so I was thrilled to meet all of them and what a super bunch they are.  I just couldn't stop smiling.

There's a Fall show in November.  I'm already planning the trip and can't wait to see all my buddies again.  It was such a fun day!  I only came home with a two pieces for my collection....I think because I spend most of the time chatting.  But that's part of the fun!

These are both quite small in size.  The whisk is only about 7" and was just too sweet to pass up.

As you may know I am a collector of slaw cutters and this was in Susan and Dorrie's booth.  It has a really great patina and I loved the small size of it.

Good thing she found that before I did......LOL.

Afterwards, the four of us went to dinner at Woody's, which Holly recommended.

We had the crab cakes, but of course.  Everything was amazing.  Great food and service.  Definitely the place to eat after the show.  It's close by in North East MD.  A really cute town.  We all want to walk around it a bit the next time we are there.

A Stitcher's Finish

As promised, I'm back to post and share the beautiful pictures I received from

Elena stitched Merry Winter into a pincushion and split the design in order to have something on each side of the piece.

It is so pretty.  I love the choice of fabric and the pocket.  This was an exchange gift for her friend Eszter, who I'm sure was thrilled to receive this in the mail!

Long Overdue Blog Post

Some of you may know by now that my unexpected trip was to 

Nashville Needlework Market!!!!

My friends, Ann and Pat of R&R invited me to tag along for the snowy trip:) 

and hang out in their suite.  What great friends they are and I had a blast!

Here is a picture of the table in their R&R room.  I loved the cut out R&R books and the bright tulips.  Ann and Pat were so sweet to let me display my newest release 

"Quaker Friends".

I wish I could say I took tons of pictures, but the time at Market seemed to fly at such rapid pace.  It was so wonderful to meet so many of the designers and shop owners.  

I was just giddy at the fact that I was finally able to meet and chat in person with my dear friend Niky of NikysCreations.  

Her room was filled with such wonderful goodies.  She gifted my this sweet xs heart that I brought home and hung immediately.

 

This was the back of the car after the show, loaded with Market purchases.

You can't even see the car top carrier, which was also full.  

 Great pack job Pat!  I still can't believe she got it all in.
