Road Trip to Lititz PA

Yesterday was the perfect day for a road trip.  Sunny, but cool.  Perfect Fall day for shopping in the beautiful little town of Lititz, Pa.  My friend Mimi and I set out early and made it there in no time.  So, as promised, here are pics of our day!

We decided to have an early lunch before walking around.  We ate at a lovely historic tavern called the General Sutter Inn.  The food and service was wonderful and it was just the perfect way to start our visit.
Afterwards we walked along the street going in and out of all the shops.

There were some great old houses on the street.
I just loved this one with it's gray door and shutters and pair of rockers too.
The reason for our trip was to visit the open house at Days Gone By Creations.  You can not leave this shop without buying something or maybe one of everything :D.  Mimi and I were in primitive heaven :) and Cindy, the owner, is such a sweetie.  It was wonderful seeing her again and she did the most amazing job on the displays and front window.
Here are just a few pics of the shop.  Yep.....drool......
My friend and former TDIP sister, Susan Burd of Country Crocks, was there too.  I just love Susan and always enjoy our chats.  I was excited to introduce Mimi to her.
My two buddies........
Here are the treasures I left with.....
Two sweet bee's wax stocking ornies, an 1803 candle called Cookies for St. Nick, smells unbelievable, and a primitive paddle.

We also stopped for a little refreshment at the local pub, Sturgis Haus Brewery.
I wet my whistle with a half pint of Krauses Haar.  A favorite of mine when here.
Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing the pics of our visit to Lititz.  Cindy told us there is another open house in the Spring and I'm sure Mimi and I will make the trip back for it.
Happy Weekend all,
~Nan

The Never Ending Birthday - Part 2

Well my friends, I have a few minutes this morning before I really get into my day, so I wanted to post Part II of my never ending birthday :)
As I mentioned in my last post, my friend Mimi and I got together for the day.
Before we took off on our road trip she gave me these awesome birthday gifts.
First, I'll show you my favorite of all.
She cross stitched and finished this wonderful ditty bag with my initials in beautiful Fall colors.
Handmade gifts always touch my heart and I am so thrilled to have this made by a friends hands.  I will cherish it and it will bring me many smiles.

She also surprised me with this heart handled slaw board or kraut cutter.
I collect these and have them hanging all around our kitchen.  I really love it and it's just so prim.  I couldn't wait to find a place for it.
Of course, no birthday would be complete without adding a little fabric and a "wanted" chart to a friends stash :D
To say the least, it has been a great birthday.  I am blessed with a wonderful, loving husband and many, many good friends, who make my life full and happy.
Thanks for making my day so special!
Smiles, ~Nan

The Never Ending Birthday - Part 1

Hi all. Yep, that's right.  My birthday, which was on the 18th, seems to be ongoing!
On Wednesday, my friend Mimi aka R. M. Martz and I went on a little road trip up to Doylestown, Pa. to visit with one of her Artist/Painter friends.  We went to pick up an early American Folk Art sign that my husband had purchased for me for my birthday,
with the help of Mimi.
Peter DiScala of Strafford House creates the most amazing hand painted signs.
They look very original and old and when we walked into his carriage house studio to get the one my hubby had ordered, let me just say, I was speechless which rarely happens :)

Here is the sign I got for my birthday!
RumGin and a biscuit please......:)

I picked out a spot atop our antique grain bin in our sunroom, but I have already moved it and want to hang it on the focal wall upstairs.

I also grabbed one of his cards while there and if you get a chance to visit his website or facebook page, you will not be disappointed.

When I was looking around I just couldn't resist treating myself to another of his wonderful signs and ended up bringing this one home too.  I don't usually buy myself a birthday gift, but felt I just couldn't leave this one behind.  Have you ever felt like that?
  WOOLENS ~AND~ LINENS.
Oh yeah, that said it all !
I decided to hang this one over the green
grain bin instead.

I also got lots of great gifts from Mimi,
but that will be part 2.
I'll be back to show you them as soon as I can.
Happy Friday, ~ Nan

Fun day to play

It's not too often that I take a day off to
play.  I'm pretty much a workaholic.
But, as I mentioned yesterday, my
stitching buddy, Mimi came for a visit
and we played most of the day.
We purchased some new wools and velvets from
Blackberry Primitives a few weeks ago.
Their wools and velvets are just YUMMY.
We decided our project of the day
would be strawberries.
These were just the perfect colors for the task.
SIDEBAR...
Since I can't cook to save my life, Mimi always
makes us a special lunch and it's always
something new and delicious.
Today was a broiled crab and cheese mixture
on English muffins and fresh brewed
iced tea.  It was very, very yummy :)
My part is to help Mimi with the finishing
and I think I get the best part of the deal
 since I get fed :D
Anyway..... Here are our velvet strawberries.
Mine is the pink with sequin pins and Mimi's is the red
with little black seed beads.
She will finish the rest of hers at home since we
ran out of time.  We do a lot of talking and show
and tell and the day really flies.
It was lots of fun and it's really good to take a break
from it all now and then.
I love our playdates!

She also brought the frame I ordered for
the new sampler design.  OOOH LA LA.

Love it and can't wait to get her all framed up
and looking beautiful.

Well, I'm creatively exhausted :)
Bee back soon......hint, hint, hint.
